i had flight simulator 2000. bought it with allowance & was disappointed. hopefully the maps are better now....although i too, could fly a plane into the WTC. not as hard as people made it seem.

Nope. Never ever, and by that I mean probably more than is socially acceptable. I bought PMDG's 737 and Wilco's A320, and was at one point able to fly both while handling dinner and a toddler. I've spent more time recently flying general aviation freeware stuff, of which there's a ton of good planes.

Have you ever done any flights on Vatsim? I can't ever really sit in front of a computer for a good solid hour plus to do that, but I've done a handful of short GA hops to entertain my daughter.

Also; World Travel is balls, Orbit Airlines is the best!

I have FSX and Vatsim installed on my PC but I've only ever been able to get it to work once.

used to play it all the time when i was in middle school (about 7 years ago)! I was obsessed with planes and still am. Idk why but i was obsessed with transatlantic flights and had tons of projectopensky planes. Loved flying a330/a340s, but really enjoyed 777s more than anything! i need to get back into this haha

I used to play it nonstop before I left for college. I had massive amounts of fun with it. If I recall correctly, my FS folder used to be about 200GB, including add-ons.

PMDG made an extremely realistic 777, but it's around $100.

Opensky makes some amazing aircraft, but they sort of fell apart into two or three other groups.

I like them, I just can't see myself playing it for a few hours at a time on long flights. Even a short flight would get boring.

I just got a new desktop, which makes me want to buy a flight sim of some sort...never have really had anything that's ballsy enough to run one well.

Also, off topic, but finished my detail that I mentioned a week or so ago (pretty sure that was you I was conversing with about it). Regardless, it doesn't look too different from a distance than it did when I started. And then it snowed/sleeted/hailed today, so the car went right back underneath its cover.

I never had the privilege or $$ to experience payware aircraft but yeah its sad opensky is no more, great group; i think i might still have some of their aircraft on a harddrive somewhere

That's one of the things that makes it fun: setup a flight, get it on autopilot, do something else. Come back later and land.

Since I started playing years ago I'd estimate I have a few thousand hours in the sim, but I certainly don't sit there the whole time

I've never tried vatsim, I just play with my friend. We used to play with a bunch of people, we did a tour of the US then started to fly from California to South America in light planes. Made it to Peru before life got in the way

I used to fly around the world. I'd get in something big, like a posky 777, and set it up on a 4 leg hop around the world. I probably did 7 or 8 trips around before I left for college.

If you want to benchmark a computer, flightsim will do it.

Yes, we were talking about detailing. Winters a bitch, aint it?

Same thing for me. I've gotten back into it since college, but not nearly to the same extent. I used to spend all my time on FS forums, I made repaints, flew multiplayer...I was totally addicted

I would be banned. I crash and kill way too many people.

I've dabbled with the FSX demo in the past. The price on the Gold Edition has dropped to something affordable with a lot of frugality on my end now, but is there any other place to get it that isn't Amazon or the MS Store?

True story.

Hell I moved to NC, I figured getting out of the midwest would get me out of the 65 degree across 2 day temperature swings.

I have no idea. It used to be at stores like Walmart and Target. I bought it when it came out, so it's been 8 years since I looked for it.
